A Chance to Build a Better Future
As the general election draws to a close, the nation is presented with the opportunity to re-energize and increase our efforts towards building a greener, just, and more sustainable future.
We welcome and call for greater strides in the national discussion surrounding climate change. Recently, the President-elect committed to rejoin the Paris Climate Agreement, signaling the reestablishment of our nation’s critical role in lowering global carbon emissions. And, the competitive pricing of utility-scale renewable energy sources continues to shift domestic and global markets away from the carbon-intensive electric generation of the past.
At the state level, we at Fossil Free California are energized and eager to sustain our advocacy for climate solutions by collaborating with both grassroots organizations and the legislature alike. We will continue to vigorously work to move money out of fossil fuel investments while building the clean energy economy. We recognize that the climate crisis disproportionately affects communities of color and are working to become an explicitly anti-racist organization that presents our climate initiatives through a climate justice lens.
As the effects of increased greenhouse gas emissions continue to present themselves in our everyday lives, FFCA calls upon the President-elect, Congress, and the California state legislature to pursue the common goal of a habitable and biologically diverse planet.
